With Christmas fast approaching, buying Christmas gifts might be high on people's agenda. And how is it for you? What is your attitude towards buying presents? How do you react to "bad" Christmas gifts? Do you follow the tradition of exchanging gifts at your home or maybe you have adopted a new approach? Please let me know in the comments below. *the best comment will be awarded with a special gift - a grammar book -Grama to nie drama by Arlena Witt. I am waiting for your comments till 22nd December 2018. A warm thank you to all of you who took part in the program. The six-week Let's talk program is now officially over.
But I strongly believe that continuing this program will be worth your while. That's why Let's talk will get a second life. This time, however, it will be less intensive and new topics will be posted once a month. I do hope that this new formula will allow you to make time to contribute to the project more. Remember, there is no Let's talk without you. I do appreciate your involvement and I strongly believe that reading other people's comments and posting your own is a good way to keep on using the language. Once again thank you and talk to you soon! Thanks a million for filling in the feedback form below. This is the last week of our 6-week-program "Let's talk".
And today I'm gonna ask you a really easy or a really difficult question - namely What's your favourite song in English? Why? I've thought long and hard which song I'd choose to be my number one. And I must say the choice is not the easiest as I generally enjoy listening to music. But there's one song that I always like coming back to. The lyrics come from a poem Those Dancing Days Are Gone by William Butler Yeats. I absolutely love the poem, as I guess "I carry the sun in a golden cup and the moon in a silver bag" and my dancing days are definitely gone. The song is sung by Carla Bruni. You can listen to it HERE. Please share your choices in the comments below. This week I am asking you to recommend something.
Be it a product you love using, a recipe of a delicious meal, a place to visit, a movie to watch, a book to read - well, the possibilities are endless. Sharing is caring! So let's share! Week 4 I saw this video clip a few weeks ago and to be honest with you I had shivers down my spine. Is virtual intelligence something that scares you or excites you? Please let me know what you think. For many people this question would seem to be highly inappropriate. And, don't you worry, my intention is not to ask you this question. What I would like you to do this week is to watch a short clip about taxes in Finland. What do you think about such an idea? Would you like the same regulation to be introduced in your country? Let me know in the comments below. Week 2 Recently I have had quite a lot of discussions with my students about plastic and being eco-friendly. I thought that it might be a good idea to bring this topic up here and share our thoughts with a bigger audience. The question isn't really about plastic being good or bad. It's more of your feelings connected with the problem of plastic and daily solutions that we can all put to use. Watch a short clip first and let me know what you think in the comments below. Week 1
Let's say that you can invite one person, living or dead, to dine with you. Who would you choose? Why? What would you talk about? Please share with us in the comments below. Extra input Craig Morgan's song links nicely with our topic. Listen for inspiration, relax or vocabulary input :)
I am very happy that you're here today and I do hope that you'll stay for a bit.
You will find the info about the program on your right under the "I" icon. The official launch of the program date is 24th October. The plan is to run it for 6 weeks but it all depends on you! I believe that sharing and exchanging views will be beneficial not only for your English. If you like the program, please feel free to recommend it to your many friends and relations. If you wish to receive reminders via Whatsaap about new posts to be up to date please fill in the form HERE |
