This week I shared something with two of you, and I realised it is worth sharing with everyone.
Over the past week, I have done a lot of interviews with new potential students. That contrast was eye-opening. It made me realise how much work we have already done together, especially with those of you I have been working with for a longer time. I do not always say this explicitly in class, but I see your progress. Even if it does not always feel like progress to you. When I compare your communication to people who 'speak English' but have not done this kind of work, the difference is clear. What you have been developing is not just language; it is awareness, reflection, a gut feeling for what sounds right, and linguistic instincts. This is a meta-skill; something no textbook will ever teach and nothing that can be rushed. It requires a specific mindset and attitude, and the fact that you are open to this kind of work is something I genuinely value. This week I also noticed something else. One of you used a phrase that I often use myself. That happens from time to time, and I always notice it, even if I do not always say it out loud. Seeing my communication fingerprint reflected in you is incredibly meaningful to me; it tells me the work is landing. So I want to say this clearly. I appreciate your effort, your engagement, and the trust you bring into this process. I am grateful that you are part of this journey, and I hope you keep showing up with the curiosity and motivation you already have, because it truly matters. Comments are closed.
